There’s a moment when knitting a pattern that you realize you’ve modded it so much and, since you didn’t keep any notes of what you did, could probably never repeat it. Since this is the first of two socks this might turn out to be a problem.

Might have just spun my first bit of fiber. Might have been love at first twist. Not that it’s even knittable at this point. It was awesome, though. Might not have any rational reason why. But then again, why do I like knitting?

This is the Lace-Leaf Hat by Sophie O’Donnell in Cascade 220.
A very easy design, that turns out quite cutely. Finished just in time for summer.

NaNoWriMos:Make your life a little easier as you write...
I’ve done a lot of writing, and one of my biggest problems with longer projects is remembering details about my characters. Wkeep hy does this happen? Because I don’t keep track of the details.
I really started thinking about this when I went back to look over my novel from the 2011 NaNoWriMo….
I keep handwritten notes on index cards as well as Notebook files with the information of all character profiles. Mostly because I can only keep track of details of the main character and maybe a secondary character when I’m reading a book, much less when I’m trying to write one. Also, you’re right-you don’t want to be frantically searching through a 30,000 word document trying to find that one detail from that one thing you thought you wrote about in that one chapter but maybe it was three chapters before that.

This is the Lace-Leaf Hat in Cascade 220 in an insanely bright blue.
When I saw this yarn on the wall I knew I had to have it, and it had to be made into something that is right next to my face, or on it. So I went with a hat. This is going to be beautiful once I’m done with it.

This is just a feather and fan stitch pattern with Malabrigo Lace in apricot.
So I don’t remember if I told Tumblr about my fight with Malabrigo Lace when winding. Here’s a warning for you-just let the shop wind it for you. It’s not worth it to bring it home. On the upside the yarn is beautifully colored, with a slight tonality that isn’t worth saying that it’s a tonal yarn but is so pretty knitted up. It’s also insanely light but warm. I’m about half way through the skein, and I’m realizing that this scarf is going to be long.

Hundred Acre Wood from Socktopus.
Look, my first gusset! Hopefully by the time you read this it’ll be after my first heel flap turn as well. As I’m not sure what the specific name for the type of heel that it is, I can’t search the internet for videos of how to do it, so I’ll be relying completely on pattern instructions. That’s scary for me, as the best way I learn is by doing, then by watching.

I’m finally uploading the yarn I got from Knitpicks a few weeks ago. I love their choice in yarns, and finally bought some of the Chroma that I’ve had my eyes on forever. It wasn’t my first choice in colorway, but it will work well for simulating the sunset behind a brown that form trees. The blue is a lace, and I’m not sure what I’ll be doing with that yet. I’m thinking my first shawl. The green and gray palatte will be for the Selbu Modern hat. The purple will go with some Lana Loft sport for colorwork mittens. As you can see, I have plans.
